Inspired by recent trends, such as boycotts of Meta and X, I decided to take a three-day break from social media. As someone who spends a significant amount of time on various platforms, I was curious to see how disconnecting from the digital world would impact my well-being. However, what I discovered during this social media detox was unexpected and eye-opening.
The Temptation to Check
Initially, I found myself repeatedly reaching for my phone, almost on autopilot, to check notifications and scroll through my feeds. The urge to stay connected and informed was deeply ingrained in my routine, highlighting the addictive nature of social media. Despite my best intentions to unplug, the pull of the digital world was strong.
Missing Out on Updates
One of the immediate drawbacks of being off social media was the feeling of missing out on important updates and news. Without constant access to real-time information, I felt a sense of disconnect from the world around me. Whether it was updates from friends or breaking news stories, not being on social media left me feeling out of the loop.

As my three-day break from social media came to an end, I was faced with the decision of how to reintegrate digital platforms into my life.
